The Department of Natural Resources
visited Cherokee Trail Elementary Oct. 2, 2015 to present a wildlife program to
fourth and fifth grade students.
Greg Lucas,
who works in education and recreation with the S.C. Department of Natural
Resources at its Clemson office, brought a variety of reptiles that were held,
touched or simply admired by all the students!
Lucas visits dozens of
elementary schools in Pickens, Oconee, Greenville, Spartanburg and Anderson
counties with his traveling wildlife program. A 25-year veteran with DNR,
Lucas is also a field editor for South Carolina Wildlife magazine, the DNR coordinator for the
Upstate Master Naturalist program, and a board member with the Foothills Trail
Conference.
This was a
very educational experience for our students and we are looking forward to Mr.
Lucas visiting our school again! Picture #1 - Kirsten Richey Picture #2 - Mary Beth Jacks and Kaytlin Smith Picture #3 - Addie Smith Picture #4 - Cameron Gross
