Westwood Elementary 5^th graders are working on a Westward Expansion Unit in social studies and learning about Levi Strauss being an early entrepreneur and inventing blue jeans for the miners.  Using this information, our classrooms had discussions about ranchers and miners.  The students have learned about why certain clothes were worn and their purposes.  In order to celebrate the unit, students and teachers dressed up as cowboys and cowgirls.
