Diamond Hill students participated in a Penny War to raise money for the American Red Cross. This event was sponsored by our Beta Club. We raised a total of $1004.06. The winning classroom was Mrs. Price's 5th grade homeroom. They raised $264.45. We are very proud of our Beta Club and our students of Diamond Hill who recognized that there was a need for donations after hurricane Harvey and Irma and they did what they could do to meet that need.

Awaiting the Total Solar Eclipse at Westwood Elementary

Westwood students from Amanda Brown’s art class are incorporating STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art, and math) topics in their weekly lessons.  The total solar eclipse was first on the list of art/science projects with a salt painting replica of an eclipse.  A few students were chosen at the end of last week to win a pair of eclipse viewing glasses from Roper Mountain Science Center and a “Sunny D” juice box or a “Sunshine” dried fruit mix.  Pictured are fourth graders Mi’Darius Burton (Mr. Whitmire’s homeroom), Ja’Niah Patterson (Mrs. Hughes’s homeroom), and fifth grader Micayla Rodgers (Mrs. Williams’s homeroom).
