Tim Rhodes Elected as SCSBA Region 11 Director
COLUMBIA – Tim Rhodes, board member of the Abbeville County School District, was elected as Region 11 Director of the South Carolina School Boards Association (SCSBA) during the association’s annual business meeting Saturday, December 8. He was elected to complete one year of a four-year term. Region 11 includes the Abbeville, Anderson 1, 2, 3; Edgefield, Greenwood 50, 51, 52; McCormick; and Saluda school districts.
The annual business meeting, which was held during the association’s Legislative Advocacy Conference, included voting delegates from most of the state’s 81 school boards. In addition to the election of association officers, delegates adopt resolutions to guide the association during the 2019 legislative session.
Rhodes has been a member of the Abbeville County School Board since November 2007. He has served as Chairman, Vice Chair and Secretary for the board over the past eleven years. He also volunteers as a baseball, shooting team and football coach for the local high school. He is one of the founding members of the Calhoun Falls FFA Alumni Chapter. Rhodes serves as President of the local non-profit organization Faith Hunters for Youth.
Rhodes is married to Lois Gamer Rhodes, and they have four children - three daughters and one son - and one grandson. Mr. Rhodes is an active member of Northside Baptist Church in Calhoun Falls, SC, where he serves as a deacon and is a member of the praise team band.
He served 13 years in the Army and USAR before being honorably discharged in 2000. Along with his military service and community and school involvement, Rhodes is a full-time employee of Prysmian Group North America. He has been with them for the past 24 years and is currently a Quality Assurance Coordinator.
